Savitri meets the various seers and sages, yogis rare to find, in that space where few dare to tread, far from the city as well as village life. She discovers the various lines and approaches that humanity has taken in its attraction towards the Divine.

Savitri moves amidst scenes and nature to find the one person who shall be her partner and mate in the great game of life. Seasons change until summer arrives. On this note this book ends leaving us with an anticipation that perhaps the hour of destiny is close.

The moment has drawn near when the destined meeting of Savitri and Satyavan must take place. The Divine Mother has chosen for Her human lila the spot and the time where She must meet the destined person.

The second Canto of Book Five starts by introducing us to the personality of Satyavan, a jewel among men. He is a being of rare make, beautiful within and without, endowed with richness of inner life and qualities that are not easily found.

At last Savitri’s journey comes to an end; the chariot comes to a halt before the one destined partner of her great game of life. She has discovered Satyavan even as Satyavan has discovered her. This great moment is captured now in the lines that follow.

The meeting of the human soul with the embodied Divine is a most momentous hour that changes all future Destiny. Such a moment has now arrived for Satyavan. He is face to face with the Divine Mother who has chosen him to be a partner in the great game of life.

Of all the forces we experience during our sojourn upon earth, love is indeed the most powerful. We are being introduced to this Force of Love that comes from the very highest though it is distorted as it enters the realms of Ignorance and is seized by the play of the ego and distorted by desires.

Satyavan and Savitri are face to face with each other but a deeper heart has already been touched. Their soul has stepped out and seems to have recognized each other. Satyavan starts first and even as he speaks the first few words there is already a sense if intimacy and care that is being expressed.

Satyavan invites Savitri, the golden bride, to descend from her chariot and enrich the floors of his earthly home. Savitri briefly gives her own introduction and requests Satyavan to speak more about himself. She is enchanted by his words even as Satyavan unveils his inner being bearing the stamp of an inner royalty.

Satyavan has not yet discovered the key to link the Spirit and Matter, his Soul and Nature, the inmost Self and World. Yet a strange prescience intuitively tells him that now he shall be able to bridge the gulf since She has come, the World-Mother wearing the garb of the princess Savitri.

Satyavan is no ordinary mortal. In Savitri he is the symbol of the human soul trapped in a double ignorance. On the one side he is ignorant of the world he inhabits while on the other side he is ignorant of his secret Self. When with great labour and struggle he finds the one, he tends to lose the other...

Satyavan has spoken his deepest heart out to Savitri. Savitri has seen and heard and felt with her inmost heart that the one whom she has searched for is here, embodied in the being of Satyavan. She accepts and, coming down from her chariot, reveals her choice through words and symbol gestures.

The coming together of Man and Woman is simply a symbol, a distorted reflection in our human Ignorance, of the coming together of two seeming opposites, Purusha and Prakriti, Soul and Matter, Heaven and Earth. This profound inner truth of our inmost heights is being revealed to us through the marriage of Savitri and Satyavan...

Savitri and Satyavan have spoken and met. They have rediscovered each other through Love and grown one. But now Savitri must hasten back to her home and disclose the news to her parents about her choice. Thus she parts from her self-chosen home to the home of her birth and childhood.

Meanwhile, in the Seer-King Aswapati’s palace, Narad, the demigod, choses to descend! As always he brings with him a strange mix of good news and a bad news. But in fact the attribution of good and bad is our doing, or rather the mind’s way of looking at things. Narad simply brings down to man the word of Fate.

Narada, the demigod and a bhakta of the Lord, is ever engaged in the good of all creatures. His work, if he has any since he lives in freedom, is to sing the names of the Lord. As he draws near to Earth, he feels the touch of pain that inhabits mortal things.

Even as Narada, the demi-god is received at Aswapati’s palace, as he sings to them the glories of Heaven-love brooding in the depths of pain, Savitri arrives to her father’s home. There she is met with the seer-gaze of the yogi-King, who discovers in his daughter a marvelous change by the touch of love.

Narad, the heavenly sage, has been blessed with the ability of seeing the scroll of fate. This foresight is a mixed boon since it can see and hear the far approaching feet of pain even as the individual is rejoicing in the present moment.
