Savitri Study Classes in Hindi

Though the outer events that crowd our life trigger in us the reactions of pleasure and pain, they are not the real essence of Fate. The truth of Fate lies deep within us in our soul. It is the goal towards which we move and the path we have taken to arrive.

"To the Queen’s apprehensions concerning her daughter Savitri, Narad reminds that She has come for this work as the incarnate Force of the Divine, charged with the mandate to ‘open the doors long closed and denied’ to man, and that She is sufficient to her task. On these hopeful and powerful words closes the Book of Fate."

With the touch of a great Master Sri Aurobindo first recounts the scene of Savitri’s departure from her parental palace to the Satyavan’s simple hermitage. As with other scenes of this epic, Sri Aurobindo beautifully weaves into it subtle symbols and profound truths.

Savitri must experience the entire play of human life and human love. She must face the difficulty and the danger, the fleeting joys and the grief that afflicts human hopes, so that She may find the true remedy.

Savitri outwardly remains calm and sweet and forbearing in her dealings with her little world around, but inwardly she suffers with the foreknowledge of death. She experiences now the entire range of human life and identifies with it.

Savitri is caught in an inner battle between love and grief. Her grief for an impending doom has made her love even more intense and precious. Still Savitri keeps her grief secluded in her heart and shares it with none.

Slowly Savitri's grief turns to a quiet strength within even as she awaits the hour of the fatal stroke, wondering what could be done, if anything at all, for her strange predicament where love must end too soon cut abruptly by Death.

Here, the Master is revealing to us profound truths through Savitri’s moment of crisis. In this critical hour of Destiny, Savitri is awake searching for the meaning of her life, speaking to her own higher Self.

Here we see a critical moment in Savitri’s life, when her central being, which is none other than the Divine Mother Herself in Her poise that has turned towards Creation to redeem it, the Mother of all souls, speaks to her reminding of her mission and gives her the program towards fulfilling it.

The very first step towards the discovery of our soul is to observe our nature as a witness and a student. What do we find there? A constant restless movement of Nature in different domains of our being. It is the surface of our life. Here we cannot find the soul.

Behind the surface life of man, below the threshold of his waking awareness there lies a whole mysterious world and its powers and energies and beings.

In our ignorance we cut our world into strips of ‘mine and yours’, ‘good and bad’ etc, but in fact everything is there in everyone, as a potential possibility. It is waiting for its hour to manifest, and when the moment arrives springs up a surprise upon us.

Our greater self of knowledge waits for us, A supreme light in the truth-conscious Vast: It sees from summits beyond thinking mind, It moves in a splendid air transcending life. It shall descend and make earth’s life divine.

Savitri has seen the different parts of human nature, the states of consciousness that move us from behind. Now she studies the course of human evolution and, more importantly, what is still to come and the conditions for the change.

As the name suggests, this Canto describes the domains through which our being passes inwardly in our seeking for the soul. These three domains are the physical, vital and mental realms.

"Approaching loomed a giant head of Life Ungoverned by mind or soul, subconscient, vast. It tossed all power into a single drive, It made its power a might of dangerous seas."

The last Savitri study class of the year - will resume in January 2018.

Savitri passes onwards beyond the vital worlds concealed within us to the world of mind where rule and measure predominate over the wild freedom and passion of life. The Spirit does not find its freedom here since it is tied to rule and norm.
