These are some of the characteristics of the vital world: expansion, taste of the extremes, seeking for power and joy. The larger vital, the greater life grows through these things towards its great goal.
... the one thing essential is the intense devotion of the thought in the mind to the object of adoration. [...] As in the other Yogas, so in this, one comes to see the Divine everywhere and in all and to pour out the realisation of the Divine in all one’s inner activities and outward actions.
God is complex, not simple; and the temptation of the human intellect is to make a short cut to the divine nature by the exclusive worship of one of its principles.... And all this happens because we will not recognise the complexity of the riddle we are set here to solve. It is a great and divine riddle
In rebirth it is not the external being that is born again ... it is only the psychic being that passes from body to body. Logically, then, neither the mental nor the vital being can remember past lives ... Besides, it is much more important for us to fix our attention upon what we want to become than upon what we have been.

Savitri now starts revealing one key after another that would reconcile the opposite poles of Existence. She reveals the nature of the One who is everywhere and in all things. This is a great profound wisdom for Death to learn, the first key to the reconciliation of opposites.
After stopping tea my mind seems to become dull. It has become difficult to attend my classes.
All that is evidently due to the vital-physical becoming tamasic because you refuse it its small desires. You should throw it away altogether and call down into the vital-physical the Mother’s Force.

Death now speaks of a sad and harsh philosophy, the so-called realism that drives us towards some dark end of nothingness. It is a perverted truth that carries its own appeal to a type of human mentality. Here we see Death picking up truths and giving it just a little twist here and there to turn it into falsehood.
The five years, 1910-1914, served the need of my preparation. It should be called a pilgrimage to Sri Aurobindo. Each act of mine, each event of my life had become, as it were, offerings in the sacrifice done unknowingly by me.
Death confronts Savitri with the hard immutable law as the only Truth. He wonders, half-mockingly, if there is any other truth than the hard facts of earthly life. Even if there is something greater called God, the laws of matter still hold.

The workings of this yoga do not take place through upadesha and techniques but by a constant opening to the Mother’s Force that will shift our psychological elements and change us. This talk touches upon some facets of this.
