At the Feet of The Mother
There is a great mass of necessary information about the world, one’s body, the evolution of the earth, the history of the human race that one ought to learn and then also the training of the intellect to deal rightly with facts. [...] To neglect one’s studies as R and S have done is therefore a mistake.
Life emerges out of matter as if out of some dark obscure cave. Thus begins the slow ascension of life towards her divine home. In the process she carries matter transforming it into shapes and forms closer and closer to the divine Idea.
The Mother recites a short essay by Sri Aurobindo written around 1918 and published in a complete form in the Bulletin of SAICE in Nov 1979. The video was produced by the University of Human Unity in 2008.
Sri Aurobindo has given up his body in an act of supreme unselfishness, renouncing the realisation in his own body to hasten the hour of the collective realisation.

Mother, I pray: ‘Let my longing for Thee grow ever more, let it grow deeper and wider and intenser and cover up all vagrant seekings for petty satisfactions.’

You have to learn by experience. Mental information (badly understood, as it always is without experience) might rather hamper than help. In fact there is no fixed mental knowledge for these things, which vary infinitely....
Our sacrifice is not a giving without any return or any fruitful acceptance from the other side; it is an interchange between the embodied soul and conscious Nature in us and the eternal Spirit [...] The soul knows that it does not give itself to God in vain...
Seldom do we commit a wrong or a mistake without getting a timely warning, however vague or weak, from within ourselves. This shows that the truth consciousness is within us...
