At the Feet of The Mother

The Vision Withdraws, pp. 346-347

Opening Remarks
The Divine Mother withdraws into the secrecy of Her Silence. The luminous vision fades and Aswapati returns to the earthly state.

Vanished the splendour
As a flame disappears in endless Light
Immortally extinguished in its source,
Vanished the splendour and was stilled the word.

Slowly the form and the face disappears in the formless state, in Light without end. It vanished in Its Immortal Source carrying with It the splendour. The tremendous Word of assurance and the promise was absorbed in the Stillness.

An echo of delight
An echo of delight that once was close,
The harmony journeyed towards some distant hush,
A music failing in the ear of trance,
A cadence called by distant cadences,
A voice that trembled into strains withdrawn.

What was left in its wake was a vibration of delight resounding from afar. The harmony journeyed towards some distant hush as music failing in the ear of trance, a cadence melting in distant cadences, as a voice that trembled into strains withdrawn.

Her form retreated
Her form retreated from the longing earth
Forsaking nearness to the abandoned sense,
Ascending to her unattainable home.

Her form retreated from the longing earth away from the fields of abandoned sense, ascending to her unattainable home. What was left was a sacred longing and a yearning upon earth.

Vacant lay the inner fields
Lone, brilliant, vacant lay the inner fields;
All was unfilled inordinate spirit space,
Indifferent, waste, a desert of bright peace.

The inner fields of life and mind lay vacant and lone as bright and brilliant. It was an unfilled spirit space, indifferent, waste, as a desert of bright peace. This peace is of course the peace of the Divine Purusha that is filled with the Shakti, the Consciousness Force, the Ananda of the Divine Mother.

White feet of sound
Then a line moved on the far edge of calm:
The warm-lipped sentient soft terrestrial wave,
A quick and many-murmured moan and laugh,
Came gliding in upon white feet of sound.

Then something stirred on the far edge of calm, the warm-lipped sentient soft terrestrial wave, a quick and many-murmured moan and laugh of nature came gliding upon white feet of sound. Nature is only a lesser formulation of the Divine Mother and it is with these fields of nature with which Aswapati is coming in contact with.

Silence’ heart
Unlocked was the deep glory of Silence’ heart;
The absolute unmoving stillnesses
Surrendered to the breath of mortal air,
Dissolving boundlessly the heavens of trance
Collapsed to waking mind. Eternity
Cast down its incommunicable lids
Over its solitudes remote from ken
Behind the voiceless mystery of sleep.

The deep glory of the heart of Silence was unlocked and the absolute unmoving stillness of the Purusha surrendered to the movement and motions of prakriti. The heavens of trance through which Aswapati had moved collapsed to the waking mind as he returned back to mortality and to earth. Eternity closed its lids withdrawing into unreachable solitudes behind the mystery of the sleep state. Here, in the fields of material nature, the Purusha lies inert supporting the play of prakriti.

The grandiose respite
The grandiose respite failed, the wide release.

The uplifting divine moment, the grandiose respite and the wide release changed into the restless stir of nature, as Aswapati returned to earth and the waking state.

Closing Remarks
Thus we have here a description of the withdrawal of the Divine Mother back into Her folds of secrecy and silence as Aswapati returns to the waking state and to our mortality.

Between the age of eighteen and twenty I had attained a conscious and constant union with the divine Presence and that I had done it all alone.
