At the Feet of The Mother

The Madonna of Might Reveals Herself, pp. 508-509

Opening Remarks
The Madonna of Might reveals herself to Savitri. She is the Might and Force of the Divine that resides in her soul.

War-cry or a pilgrim chant
Amid the swaying Forces in their strife
Sovereign was her word of luminous command,
Her speech like a war-cry rang or a pilgrim chant.

The Madonna of Might spoke amidst the Forces swaying with strife. Her word was sovereign with the ring of luminous command. Her speech was like a war-cry against the dark opponent powers or like a pilgrim chant ascending through the upward difficult routes.

Restoring hope
A charm restoring hope in failing hearts
Aspired the harmony of her puissant voice:
“O Savitri, I am thy secret soul.

There was charm in her voice restoring hope in failing hearts that aspired for the harmony of her puissant voice. She introduced herself as Savitri’s secret soul.

Battle of the bright and sombre powers
I have come down into the human world
And the movement watched by an unsleeping Eye
And the dark contrariety of earth’s fate
And the battle of the bright and sombre Powers.

She reveals that she has come down into the human world to keep a watch and unsleeping vigil over the cosmic movements and checks the dark forces that bring about an adverse fate, in the battle of the bright and dark powers.

Save the doomed
I stand upon earth’s paths of danger and grief
And help the unfortunate and save the doomed.

She guards the earth’s paths and the travellers on the roads of danger and grief. She helps the unfortunate and saves those who are doomed by adversity.

I am fortune
To the strong I bring the guerdon of their strength,
To the weak I bring the armour of my force;
To men who long I carry their coveted joy:
I am fortune justifying the great and wise
By the sanction of the plaudits of the crowd,
Then trampling them with the armed heel of fate.

She brings the reward of strength to the strong and the armour of her force to the weak. To the longings of men she brings their coveted joys. She is fortune that justly rewards the greatness of the great and the wisdom of the wise by the applause and recognition of the masses of men. Yet if they misuse their greatness and wisdom I trample them with the armed heel of fate.

Voice of the forsaken and desolate
My ear is leaned to the cry of the oppressed,
I topple down the thrones of tyrant kings:
A cry comes from proscribed and hunted lives
Appealing to me against a pitiless world,
A voice of the forsaken and desolate
And the lone prisoner in his dungeon cell.

Hearing the cry of the oppressed she topples the throne of tyrant kings. The abandoned and those hunted by adverse forces, the forsaken and the desolate, the lone prisoner in his dungeon cell cry to her appealing against a pitiless world.

Saviour Grace
Men hail in my coming the Almighty’s force
Or praise with thankful tears his saviour Grace.

She is the force of the Almighty, the Grace that saves.

Closing Remarks
The Madonna of Might is the power of the Divine Mother that protects and saves.

Yoga means union with the Divine. In practice it implies coming in contact with and being established in higher and higher states of consciousness.  It is the means to grow in spiritual and eventually the Divine Consciousness.
Savitri faces death's doorstep with love for Satyavan, despite knowing his fate. Her union and deep solitude shaped her into the Divine Mother's embodiment, empowering her to confront death and fate with yogic power.
If I could get thus displeased in presence of the human weaknesses, I would certainly not be fit to do the work I am doing, and my coming upon earth would have no meaning.
