The real evolutionary struggle is within us. The war and the conquest are within us though its consequences appear outside.
A dark concealed hostility
A dark concealed hostility is lodged
In the human depths, in the hidden heart of Time
That claims the right to change and mar God’s work.
There is a dark concealed hostility against the Divine in the human depths born of old from the Inconscient. It claims as right to block God’s work.
A secret enmity
A secret enmity ambushes the world’s march;
It leaves a mark on thought and speech and act:
It stamps stain and defect on all things done;
Till it is slain peace is forbidden on earth.
A secret enmity against God opposes the caravan of the world. It acts in our thoughts and speech and act. It stains and defects all things done. Until it is slain there can be no peace upon earth.
No visible foe
There is no visible foe, but the unseen
Is round us, forces intangible besiege,
Touches from alien realms, thoughts not our own
Overtake us and compel the erring heart;
Our lives are caught in an ambiguous net.
The enemy is within us. It is unseen and yet surrounds us besieging us with invisible forces. Thoughts and feelings forces from alien dark realms overtake us through some weakness and compel us to err. Thus are our lives caught in an ambiguous net.
Adversary Force
An adversary Force was born of old:
Invader of the life of mortal man,
It hides from him the straight immortal path.
An ancient adversary Force invades human life and hides from us the straight and sunlit path.
A power opposed to the eternal Will
A power came in to veil the eternal Light,
A power opposed to the eternal will
Diverts the messages of the infallible Word,
Contorts the contours of the cosmic plan:
A whisper lures to evil the human heart,
It seals up wisdom’s eyes, the soul’s regard,
It is the origin of our suffering here,
It binds earth to calamity and pain.
A power that opposes the eternal Light and eternal Will distorts and diverts the messages of the Gods and deviate us from the original plan. An evil whisper seals our discernment and lures us towards suffering and binds us to calamity and pain.
This all must conquer
This all must conquer who would bring down God’s peace.
All who hope to bring God’s peace here must conquer this evil adversary.
Hidden foe
This hidden foe lodged in the human breast
Man must overcome or miss his higher fate.
This hidden enemy lodged in our human breast must be conquered or else we shall miss our higher fate.
Inner war without escape
This is the inner war without escape.
This is the war within us from which there is no escape.
Closing Remarks
The human soul’s ascension is a battle against cosmic powers that oppose the original Divine Plan.
