At first Savitri steps into a Night of God whence all that she found her support in is taken away. She is surrounded by a holy ignorance, awaiting the great discovery in utter awe and humility.
"Each rainbow brilliance was a splendid lie;
A beauty unreal graced a glamour face.
[...] Love ended early in hate, delight killed with pain,
Truth into falsity grew and death ruled life."
Savitri has heard the voice of Light followed by the warped echo arising in the Mind of Night. She responds to her being of Light with a promise that one day she shall return and fulfill her work.
Hearing the prophesy the queen and human mother of Savitri pleads to her to change her choice since death has made it pointless. But Savitri speaks in the manner of the gods. She refuses to give up love or hope.
Even as Savitri meets her being of Light, she hears the echo from the lower human planes, that divert the message of the Light and the gifts it brings for its own small purposes.
Savitri passes onward towards her secret soul. Before entering the secret cave of her soul she encounters her being of Light, the Madonna of Light, Mother of Joy and Peace.
Thus ends this powerful canto that in a way summarises Savitri’s work and mission and brings us in touch with the Divine Mother’s being. Savitri the book and Savitri the incarnate Divine Mother, whose touch we receive through the book, become thereby a means for our own liberation and transformation.
"... The seal of tears, the bond of ignorance,
He turned to find that wide world-failure’s cause.
Away he looked from Nature’s visible face
And sent his gaze into the viewless Vast,"
