I was sitting on my bed, still half-asleep, when Cregan inquired, “Who is Aurobindo Ghose, is that you?” I answered, “Yes. I am Aurobindo Ghose.” Immediately he ordered a policeman to put me under arrest.

The main difference between our country and Europe is this, our life is turned inward, Europe's outward. We judge of good and evil, etc., from the point of motive, Europe judges it on the basis of action done.

Freedom is the goal of our political struggle, but there is a difference of opinion regarding the true meaning of freedom.

The country and nothing but the country is the foundation of Nationalism, neither the nation, nor religion, nothing else matters.
