Our life is an enigma and full of paradoxes. The greatest of all paradoxes is the opposition between the soul’s aspiration and a nature that often seems to oppose it.
This is a talk based on Sri Aurobindo’s poem The Rakshasas. Sri Aurobindo shows us the nature of Rakshasa and the Asura and their place in evolution towards our humanness.

Mahatmas are beings who were once human and rose to immortality by tapas and help and guide the humanity. Here the Mahatma narrates his birth and growth towards immortality.
With this boon that Aswapati has secured for earth he is assured of man’s inevitable future. Man, in his deepest self is a god but he has forgotten this subtle and profound truth.

This creation cannot be built by any amount of human effort or tapasya. It is only the Divine Mother and Her Grace that can create the supramental world here.
The Divine Mother is upon Earth. She has chosen to enter the womb of darkness so that She may bring here too the Light of Her Consciousness. Nature has felt it and trembles with a sacred longing and joy.
