Death is experiencing a change of heart, he is striving to understand God’s purpose in creation and mankind. Savitri has come to change the Law. She has brought with her not only the calm Wisdom of the gods but also the fiery heart of the Divine Mother’s Love.
Savitri now reveals to Death how Light has been growing despite all the resistances. She reveals how God is slowly manifesting Himself through the process of evolution.
Death now attempts to create a gulf between creation and the Creator by stating that since Mind is man, therefore man is forever doomed to a life of division. All that we can do is to escape from earthly ties into some Heaven of peace and bliss.
Death once again tries to dissuade Savitri from holding on to her aspiration of perfecting earthly life. He wants to impress upon her the fruitlessness of the human toil.
Now the three, Savitri, Satyavan and Death turn towards the earth. That is the final ground where all things are tested. Here Savitri must prove the truth that She is revealing. This is the place where Truth must be established.
This world is neither an illusion nor a meaningless vanity built by some dreaming god. There is a deep meaning hidden in each and every experience of life. There is a purpose in creation, a sanction from the Eternal upholds this game of transient things.
Death creates a seemingly unbridgeable gulf between Spirit and Matter thereby thwarting the dream of a divine life upon Earth. Savitri responds to his lie by once showing the unity of creation with the Creator.
