At the Feet of The Mother

A Single Unbroken Unity, pp. 541-542

Opening Remarks
The world is an unbroken unity even though each individual believes himself and all else to be separate.

Summits and Abyss
This world is a vast unbroken totality,
A deep solidarity joins its contrary powers;
God’s summits look back on the mute Abyss.

This world is a vast, single unbroken totality. Its contrary powers and elements are yet joined by a deep solidarity. The summits and the abysses are linked in a single gaze of God.

One house
So man evolving to divinest heights
Colloques still with the animal and the Djinn;
The human godhead with star-gazer eyes
Lives still in one house with the primal beast.

It is for this reason that man even as he evolves to divinest heights still holds commerce and communication with the animal and the djinn. The human godhead with eyes that look towards the Beyond lives in one house with the primal beast.

Single plan
The high meets the low, all is a single plan.
The high and the low come together in a single plan.
Many births of thought
So she beheld the many births of thought,
If births can be of what eternal is;
For the Eternal’s powers are like himself,
Timeless in the Timeless, in Time ever born.

So did Savitri beheld the many levels of thought. Though eternal in origin these are called as the many births of Thought. It is so with all the powers of the Eternal. Though they are Timeless, yet they are ever born in Time.

Body’s factory
This too she saw that all in outer mind
Is made, not born, a product perishable,
Forged in the body’s factory by earth-force.

Savitri saw that all that we experience in the outer mind is made as a perishable product in the factory of the body by earth’s force. It is not born there, only given an appropriate form.

Mind is a dynamic machine
This mind is a dynamic small machine
Producing ceaselessly, till it wears out,
With raw material drawn from the outside world,
The patterns sketched out by an artist God.

This mind is a dynamic small machine that takes in raw material from the outside world and ceaselessly produces patterns sketched out by the Divine Artist.

Cosmic wares
Often our thoughts are finished cosmic wares
Admitted by a silent office gate
And passed through the subconscient’s galleries,
Then issued in Time’s mart as private make.

Our thoughts are finished cosmic products that are brought in by a silent gate in our consciousness. Passing through the subconscious passages they are then appropriated by the individual in the field of Time and mistaken to be our own.

Living person’s stamp
For now they bear the living person’s stamp;
A trick, a special hue claims them his own.

For as they enter in the individual’s consciousness they bear the stamp of the receiving person which is a trick of Nature. A special hue is added and they claim it as their own.

Closing Remarks
Savitri examines the birth of thought and these truths are revealed to us.
