It is important is to understand that surrender is a dynamic process and not a passive tamasic attitude wherein we refuse any effort and leave everything in the hands of the Divine. While in principle it is true, in practice one has to make choices and then step by step surrender to the Divine.
First we surrender the result in the hands of the Divine while we do our best.
Next we surrender our character, our way of being, responses and attitudes to the Divine with an aspiration that all be in alignment with the Divine. It is a detailed and exacting process to be applied to all we do. it implies a radical shift, a change in our motives from satisfaction of desires to the service of the Divine.
Finally the very sense of the egoistic personality as the doer has to be surrendered so that one acts only under the impulsion of the Divine Will. One becomes a pure and perfect, faithful and flawless channel and instrument of the Divine Will.
It is then the Divine Consciousness takes up more and more the human play and the necessity of personal effort ceases and all action becomes a flawless expression of the Divine in and through the human.
