The soul does not reside in the body as an organ nor does it use any organ specially as its dwelling place.
Everything upon earth ultimately uses a physical pathway because that is how all manifestation takes place here. The hub of these pathways is the brain and the nervous system.
In fact the very purpose of creation is to manifest the Divine through matter. The human body is therefore meant to be an instrument of the soul.
