There are several aspects and facets of Sri Aurobindo’s vast and complex personality, namely poet, philosopher, revolutionary, journalist, visionary, seer, yogi. But what is the essential core of his being, the central lever of his immense personality so to say? On one side we see him as an embodiment of tyaga (renunciation) and tapasya (concentrated spiritual endeavour). On the other hand we see his tremendous compassion for earth and humanity.
The faith in spiritual things that is asked of the sadhak is not an ignorant but a luminous faith, a faith in light and not in darkness.
