Emergence of the Superman pp 81-82

Opening remarks
It is when the human consciousness is stilled and emptied, when it is turned upwards in an intense and one-pointed aspiration, when the soul has renounced its bondage to Ignorance and ascends to high and vast and luminous regions of the Spirit, it is when the descent of the greater Truth-Consciousness begins to remould us that the Superman held within the folds of human consciousness begins to emerge into the world-play.

Mind became an empty slate
As when a timeless Eye annuls the hours
Abolishing the agent and the act,
So now his spirit shone out wide, blank, pure:
His wakened mind became an empty slate
On which the Universal and Sole could write.

The descent of the Divine Shakti liberates us from the bonds of the ego-self, brings out the inmost Soul within, makes our consciousness vast and luminous and peaceful. She purifies our nature and uses us as Her instrument. It is She who abolishes the constructs of Ignorance in which we are trapped and stills the mind for the Divine Wisdom to pour in it.

Lifting up of the karmic load
All that represses our fallen consciousness
Was taken from him like a forgotten load:
A fire that seemed the body of a god
Consumed the limiting figures of the past
And made large room for a new self to live.

The Divine Shakti descending into the human not only removes the inner and outer obstacles but can completely annul the effect of karmas that hold us back to our present state. The subconscient regions are cleansed, the inner rooms emptied of our petty human contents, and purified by the descending Fire creates room for a new Self to emerge.

Breaking of the moulds of sense
Eternity’s contact broke the moulds of sense.

A new vision begins to awaken in us and our consciousness tied to the fixed appearances is liberated and begins to look deeper and farther at the play of hidden forces and the unfolding image of future Time..

Unwinding the triple cord of mind
A greater Force than the earthly held his limbs,
Huge workings bared his undiscovered sheaths,
Strange energies wrought and screened tremendous hands
Unwound the triple cord of mind and freed
The heavenly wideness of a Godhead’s gaze.

The Divine Shakti as It descends, not only liberates the soul and makes us conscious of much that is hidden but also transforms our nature. This transformation works in the physical and frees the other subtle sheaths within form the strong grip of matter. The knots that tie us to Ignorance are cut asunder and in its place, a new and vast vision, a wide seeing begins to emerge.

A cosmic feeling and transcendent sight
As through a dress the wearer’s shape is seen,
There reached through forms to the hidden absolute
A cosmic feeling and transcendent sight.

The form then simply becomes a means to put us into contact with the inner consciousness of the person, the universal forces that are working in him and, the aspect of the Transcendent he is meant to express and represent in the future. One begins to perceive the Divine behind all things and movements.

Transformation of the Instruments
Increased and heightened were the instruments.

The instrumental nature, that is our mind, life and body all start undergoing a transmutation leading to a heightening and increase of capacities by the action of the Divine Shakti. New faculties are born, new capacities emerge as each of these instruments is purified, refined and undergoes a reshaping under the pressure of the Divine Shakti.

The lens of illusion is taken away
Illusion lost her aggrandising lens;
As from her failing hand the measures fell,
Atomic looked the things that loomed so large.

Our sense of values is totally distorted by the ego sense in us. In addition desires and the very senses conditioned by ignorance distort Reality. With the progressive disappearance of the ego, the expulsion of desire and disappearance of the veils of ignorance, the relative and excessive importance we give to certain things disappears. A true and divine valuation of things begins to appear as the old and false human measures lose their hold.

The Imperishable Inhabitant
The little ego’s ring could join no more;
In the enormous spaces of the self
The body now seemed only a wandering shell,
His mind the many-frescoed outer court
Of an imperishable Inhabitant:

With the emergence of the secret soul within, with the melting down of the ego, our body to which we were falsely identified as our very self, now appeared only as something external, an outer shell, our mind merely an outer court of the Master who dwells in the secret chambers within. We are no more identified with the instruments of nature but know ourselves as the immortal soul within that lives forever in the eternity of the Divine Presence.

The superhuman air
His spirit breathed a superhuman air.

Thus liberated from the littleness of human consciousness, the soul begins to bloom fully in the Light and Freedom of the Infinite.

Closing remarks
With this transformation there comes not only an upliftment of the soul and its release from Ignorance even while in the human body and acting through the mind and senses (the state of a Jivanmukta) but the very nature freed from its present crudities, limitations and deformations, begins to undergo an uplifting and transforming change.
