Stories Told by the Mother

These stories are revelations of living truths conveyed to us by the Mother. Most of stories have been culled from her “Questions and Answers”. Available as e-books for reading offline. Some of them were also recorded on audio by Jhumur di.  

Animals in their natural state do not ever overeat... But an animal living with man loses this instinct.
I knew animals which aspired to become human beings, but they were living with human beings.
Kiki played with a scorpion which stung it, the cat was almost dying, the Mother called Sri Aurobindo and told him, “Kiki has been stung by a scorpion, it must be cured.”
This cat always had a great aspiration, a kind of aspiration to become a human being, and in fact, when it left its body it entered a human body.
Laziness is a kind of tamas, but in laziness there is an ill-will, a refusal to make an effort — while tamas is inertia: one wants to do something, but one can’t.
We are all born for the highest Ideal: therefore, whenever in our Ashram some petty request for more comfort and material happiness is refused, it is for your own good and to make you fulfil what you are here for.
