Sukta 14
1.14.1
ऐभि॑रग्ने॒ दुवो॒ गिरो॒ विश्वे॑भिः॒ सोम॑पीतये ।
दे॒वेभि॑र्याहि॒ यक्षि॑ च ॥
ā́ ebhiḥ agne dúvaḥ gíraḥ víśvebhiḥ sóma-pītaye ǀ
devébhiḥ yāhi yákṣi ca ǁ
With all these gods, O Agni, thou who art the activity of speech, arrive and do thy work.
1.14.2
आ त्वा॒ कण्वा॑ अहूषत गृ॒णंति॑ विप्र ते॒ धियः॑ ।
दे॒वेभि॑रग्न॒ आ ग॑हि ॥
ā́ tvā káṇvāḥ ahūṣata gṛṇánti vipra te dhíyaḥ ǀ
devébhiḥ agne ā́ gahi ǁ
On thee, O Agni, the Kanwas have called, for thee, O master of wisdom, their movements of understanding become articulate; arrive, O Agni, with the gods.
1.14.3
इं॒द्र॒वा॒यू बृह॒स्पतिं॑ मि॒त्राग्निं पू॒षणं॒ भगं॑ ।
आ॒दि॒त्यान्मारु॑तं ग॒णं ॥
indravāyū́␣íti bṛ́haspátim mitrā́ agním pūṣáṇam bhágam ǀ
ādityā́n mā́rutam gaṇám ǁ
On Indra and Vayu, Brihaspati, on Mitra and Agni, Pushan, Bhaga, the Adityas and the Marut host.
1.14.4
प्र वो॑ भ्रियंत॒ इंद॑वो मत्स॒रा मा॑दयि॒ष्णवः॑ ।
द्र॒प्सा मध्व॑श्चमू॒षदः॑ ॥
prá vaḥ bhriyante índavaḥ matsarā́ḥ mādayiṣṇávaḥ ǀ
drapsā́ḥ mádhvaḥ camū-sádaḥ ǁ
For you the nectar streams are filled in, rapturous and maddening, dripping sweetness, into their vessel they settle down.
1.14.5
ईळ॑ते॒ त्वाम॑व॒स्यवः॒ कण्वा॑सो वृ॒क्तब॑र्हिषः ।
ह॒विष्मं॑तो अरं॒कृतः॑ ॥
ī́ḷate tvā́m avasyávaḥ káṇvāsaḥ vṛktá-barhiṣaḥ ǀ
havíṣmantaḥ aram-kṛ́taḥ ǁ
Thee the Kanwas protected adore, when they have manifested the Flame, hold the offering and have set their array.
1.14.6
घृ॒तपृ॑ष्ठा मनो॒युजो॒ ये त्वा॒ वहं॑ति॒ वह्न॑यः ।
आ दे॒वान्त्सोम॑पीतये ॥
ghṛtá-pṛṣṭhāḥ manaḥ-yújaḥ yé tvā váhanti váhnayaḥ ǀ
ā́ devā́n sóma-pītaye ǁ
Shining of flank, yoked to the mind, the bearers that bear thee and bear to us the gods to drink the Soma-wine,
1.14.7
तान्यज॑त्राँ ऋता॒वृधोऽग्ने॒ पत्नी॑वतस्कृधि ।
मध्वः॑ सुजिह्व पायय ॥
tā́n yájatrān ṛta-vṛ́dhaḥ ágne pátnī-vataḥ kṛdhi ǀ
mádhvaḥ su-jihva pāyaya ǁ
make them active to the Yajna, O Agni, they increase by truth, they have with them their female powers; make them drink the sweetnesses, O keen of tongue.
1.14.8
ये यज॑त्रा॒ य ईड्या॒स्ते ते॑ पिबंतु जि॒ह्वया॑ ।
मधो॑रग्ने॒ वष॑ट्कृति ॥
yé yájatrāḥ yé ī́ḍyāḥ té te pibantu jihváyā ǀ
mádhoḥ agne váṣaṭ-kṛti ǁ
Those that are active to Yajna, those that are adorable, let both of them drink with thy tongue, O Agni, the heady sweetness of the wine.
1.14.9
आकीं॒ सूर्य॑स्य रोच॒नाद्विश्वां॑दे॒वाँ उ॑ष॒र्बुधः॑ ।
विप्रो॒ होते॒ह व॑क्षति ॥
ā́kīm sū́ryasya rocanā́t víśvān devā́n uṣaḥ-búdhaḥ ǀ
vípraḥ hótā ihá vakṣati ǁ
From the world of the lustre of the sun the seer, the priest of the offering bringeth the gods that wake to the dawn.
1.14.10
विश्वे॑भिः सो॒म्यं मध्वग्न॒ इंद्रे॑ण वा॒युना॑ ।
पिबा॑ मि॒त्रस्य॒ धाम॑भिः ॥
víśvebhiḥ somyám mádhu ágne índreṇa vāyúnā ǀ
píba mitrásya dhā́ma-bhiḥ ǁ
With all of them, O Agni, drink thou the sweetness of the Soma-wine, with Indra and Vayu and Mitra’s lustres.
1.14.11
त्वं होता॒ मनु॑र्हि॒तोऽग्ने॑ य॒ज्ञेषु॑ सीदसि ।
सेमं नो॑ अध्व॒रं य॑ज ॥
tvám hótā mánuḥ-hitaḥ ágne yajñéṣu sīdasi ǀ
sáḥ imám naḥ adhvarám yaja ǁ
Thou, the priest of the oblation, thinker and friend, sittest, O Agni, at the Yajnas, therefore do thou set thyself to this action of sacrifice of ours.
1.14.12
यु॒क्ष्वा ह्यरु॑षी॒ रथे॑ ह॒रितो॑ देव रो॒हितः॑ ।
ताभि॑र्दे॒वाँ इ॒हा व॑ह ॥
yukṣvá hí áruṣīḥ ráthe harítaḥ deva rohítaḥ ǀ
tā́bhiḥ devā́n ihá ā́ vaha ǁ
Yoking, O God, in thy chariot the rosy and the green and the crimson, by these bear hither the gods.
