Sukta 15
4.15.1
अ॒ग्निर्होता॑ नो अध्व॒रे वा॒जी सन्परि॑ णीयते ।
दे॒वो दे॒वेषु॑ य॒ज्ञियः॑ ॥
agníḥ hótā naḥ adhvaré vājī́ sán pári nīyate ǀ
deváḥ devéṣu yajñíyaḥ ǁ
The Fire is our Priest of the call in the pilgrim-sacrifice; he is led around as the horse, he is the godhead in the gods who is lord of the sacrifice.
4.15.2
परि॑ त्रिवि॒ष्ट्य॑ध्व॒रं यात्य॒ग्नी र॒थीरि॑व ।
आ दे॒वेषु॒ प्रयो॒ दध॑त् ॥
pári tri-viṣṭí adhvarám yā́ti agníḥ rathī́ḥ-iva ǀ
ā́ devéṣu práyaḥ dádhat ǁ
The Fire goes thrice around the pilgrim-sacrifice and is like one driving a chariot, he founds our delight in the gods.
4.15.3
परि॒ वाज॑पतिः क॒विर॒ग्निर्ह॒व्यान्य॑क्रमीत् ।
दध॒द्रत्ना॑नि दा॒शुषे॑ ॥
pári vā́ja-patiḥ kavíḥ agníḥ havyā́ni akramīt ǀ
dádhat rátnāni dāśúṣe ǁ
The Fire moves around the offerings, a seer, a master of the plenitudes and founds for the giver the ecstasies.
4.15.4
अ॒यं यः सृंज॑ये पु॒रो दै॑ववा॒ते स॑मि॒ध्यते॑ ।
द्यु॒माँ अ॑मित्र॒दंभ॑नः ॥
ayám yáḥ sṛ́ñjaye puráḥ daiva-vāté sam-idhyáte ǀ
dyu-mā́n amitra-dámbhanaḥ ǁ
This is he who is kindled in the front in Srinjaya, son of Devavata, he is luminous and a destroyer of foes.
4.15.5
अस्य॑ घा वी॒र ईव॑तो॒ऽग्नेरी॑शीत॒ मर्त्यः॑ ।
ति॒ग्मजं॑भस्य मी॒ळ्हुषः॑ ॥
ásya gha vīráḥ ī́vataḥ agnéḥ īśīta mártyaḥ ǀ
tigmá-jambhasya mīḷhúṣaḥ ǁ
The mortal who is a hero can have mastery over the Fire in its march, the sharp-tusked bountiful Fire.
4.15.6
तमर्वं॑तं॒ न सा॑न॒सिम॑रु॒षं न दि॒वः शिशुं॑ ।
म॒र्मृ॒ज्यंते॑ दि॒वेदि॑वे ॥
tám árvantam ná sānasím aruṣám ná diváḥ śíśum ǀ
marmṛjyánte divé-dive ǁ
They make him bright from day to day like a conquering war-horse, like a shining babe of heaven.
4.15.7
बोध॒द्यन्मा॒ हरि॑भ्यां कुमा॒रः सा॑हदे॒व्यः ।
अच्छा॒ न हू॒त उद॑रं ॥
bódhat yát mā hári-bhyām kumāráḥ sāha-devyáḥ ǀ
áccha ná hūtáḥ út aram ǁ
When the prince, the son of Sahadeva, woke me with his two bay horses, though called towards him I was not ready to rise.
4.15.8
उ॒त त्या य॑ज॒ता हरी॑ कुमा॒रात्सा॑हदे॒व्यात् ।
प्रय॑ता स॒द्य आ द॑दे ॥
utá tyā́ yajatā́ hárī␣íti kumārā́t sāha-devyā́t ǀ
prá-yatā sadyáḥ ā́ dade ǁ
Even so, I took at once from the prince, the son of Sahadeva, those two sacred horses he gave.
4.15.9
ए॒ष वां॑ देवावश्विना कुमा॒रः सा॑हदे॒व्यः ।
दी॒र्घायु॑रस्तु॒ सोम॑कः ॥
eṣáḥ vām devau aśvinā kumāráḥ sāha-devyáḥ ǀ
dīrghá-āyuḥ astu sómakaḥ ǁ
O divine Riders, here before you is the prince Somaka, son of Sahadeva; long-lived may he be!
4.15.10
तं यु॒वं दे॑वावश्विना कुमा॒रं सा॑हदे॒व्यं ।
दी॒र्घायु॑षं कृणोतन ॥
tám yuvám devau aśvinā kumārám sāha-devyám ǀ
dīrghá-āyuṣam kṛṇotana ǁ
Even him the prince, the son of Sahadeva, O divine Riders, make long of life.
