Suddhi or purification of being is the preparation for real experience of higher consciousness. Patanjali systematized the classical yoga and brought out an order. The initial stages like Yam and Niyam clean the mental and vital being to some extent so that our nature is prepared for the yoga. It is a kind of purification with the power of the mind. Suddhi is even more important in Sri Aurobindo’s yoga because here it is not just finding a route through nature but mastering the nature and preparing it to manifest the divine. In this difficult task, humility and sincerity opens the door of success. The way to purify and prepare our nature for receiving the Divine is discussed here.
