Sukta 17

7.17.1

अग्ने॒ भव॑ सुष॒मिधा॒ समि॑द्ध उ॒त ब॒र्हिरु॑र्वि॒या वि स्तृ॑णीतां ॥

ágne bháva su-samídhā sám-iddhaḥ utá barhíḥ urviyā́ ví stṛṇītām ǁ

O Fire, become high kindled with the plenty of thy fuel, let the sacred grass be spread wide.

7.17.2

उ॒त द्वार॑ उश॒तीर्वि श्र॑यंतामु॒त दे॒वाँ उ॑श॒त आ व॑हे॒ह ॥

utá dvā́raḥ uśatī́ḥ ví śrayantām utá devā́n uśatáḥ ā́ vaha ihá ǁ

Let the doors of aspiration swing open; bring here the aspirant gods.

7.17.3

अग्ने॑ वी॒हि ह॒विषा॒ यक्षि॑ दे॒वान्त्स्व॑ध्व॒रा कृ॑णुहि जातवेदः ॥

ágne vīhí havíṣā yákṣi devā́n su-adhvarā́ kṛṇuhi jāta-vedaḥ ǁ

Go, O Fire, sacrifice to the gods with the offering; make good the ways of the pilgrim-sacrifice, O knower of all things born.

7.17.4

स्व॒ध्व॒रा क॑रति जा॒तवे॑दा॒ यक्ष॑द्दे॒वाँ अ॒मृता॑न्पि॒प्रय॑च्च ॥

su-adhvarā́ karati jātá-vedāḥ yákṣat devā́n amṛ́tān pipráyat ca ǁ

He makes good the ways of the pilgrim-sacrifice, the knower of all things born; he sacrifices and gladdens the immortal gods.

7.17.5

वंस्व॒ विश्वा॒ वार्या॑णि प्रचेतः स॒त्या भ॑वंत्वा॒शिषो॑ नो अ॒द्य ॥

váṃsva víśvā vā́ryāṇi praceta␣íti␣pra-cetaḥ satyā́ḥ bhavantu ā-śíṣaḥ naḥ adyá ǁ

Conquer all desirable things, O conscious thinker, may our yearning today become the Truth.

7.17.6

त्वामु॒ ते द॑धिरे हव्य॒वाहं॑ दे॒वासो॑ अग्न ऊ॒र्ज आ नपा॑तं ॥

tvā́m ūṃ␣íti té dadhire havya-vā́ham devā́saḥ agne ūrjáḥ ā́ nápātam ǁ

Thee they have established as the carrier of offerings, O Fire, the gods have founded thee, the Son of Energy.

7.17.7

ते ते॑ दे॒वाय॒ दाश॑तः स्याम म॒हो नो॒ रत्ना॒ वि द॑ध इया॒नः ॥

té te devā́ya dā́śataḥ syāma maháḥ naḥ rátnā ví dadhaḥ iyānáḥ ǁ

Those may we be who give to thee, the godhead, go vast upon thy way and found for us the ecstasies.
