Deshpande Keshav Ganesh

Information

(1869-1939), a close friend of Sri Aurobindo from times of Cambidge. After his return from England, he became for a time editor of the English section of Indu Prakash of Bombay. Deshpande requested Sri Aurobindo to contribute political articles to his weekly. Sri Aurobindo contribute the article India and the British Parliament (26.06.1893) and series of articles under the title New Lamps for Old (07.08.1893–06.03.1894).

Deshpande was also a close friend of Tilak`s, whom he is said to have defended in his trial for sedition in 1897.

In 1898 Deshpande moved to Baroda, where he and Sri Aurobindo spent much time together. In Baroda he worked as a barrister and social worker.
