At the Feet of The Mother

Man’s Life, p. 479

Opening Remarks
Savitri looks at human life, its present state and its true purpose.

Infinite mind-space
Adventuring into infinite mind-space
He unfolds his wings of thought in inner air,
Or travelling in imagination’s car
Crosses the globe, journeys beneath the stars,
To subtle worlds takes his ethereal course,
Visits the Gods on Life’s miraculous peaks,
Communicates with Heaven, tampers with Hell.

Mind has cut the One Reality into countless bits and mutually opposing worlds and their powers. Man travels through these mind-spaces with wings of thought or in the car of imagination crossing earth and limited by the star-studded Space. He journeys through subtle worlds visiting the Gods on miraculous peaks of life. In his thought and imagination he communicates with heaven as well as sneaks into hell.

Surface life
This is the little surface of man’s life.

This is the surface human life full of contradictions and pushed by various forces from behind.

Whole mysterious world
He is this and he is all the universe;
He scales the Unseen, his depths dare the Abyss;
A whole mysterious world is locked within.

Man is all this and contains the whole universe in its subtle form within. He scales the Unseen heights as also dares the Abyss. Man’s inner life is teeming with forces and powers of mysterious worlds.

Hidden king
Unknown to himself he lives a hidden king
Behind rich tapestries in great secret rooms;
An epicure of the spirit’s unseen joys,
He lives on the sweet honey of solitude:
A nameless god in an unapproachable fane,
In the secret adytum of his inmost soul
He guards the being’s covered mysteries
Beneath the threshold, behind shadowy gates
Or shut in vast cellars of inconscient sleep.

His soul is the hidden king whom man does not know. This king is hidden behind rich inner spaces and feels the pure spiritual joy. The soul of man lives in solitude drinking its sweet honey as a nameless god in an unapproachable small temple. In the secret innermost sanctuary, the soul lives guarding hidden mysteries and treasures behind our surface awareness in our subliminal and subconscious domains.

The immaculate Divine
The immaculate Divine All-Wonderful
Casts into the argent purity of his soul
His splendour and his greatness and the light
Of self-creation in Time’s infinity
As into a sublimely mirroring glass.

The immaculate All-Wonderful Divine casts into the soul’s spiritual purity His splendour and greatness and light into a mirroring glass to reflect and manifest Himself in time and space.

Dreams of God
Man in the world’s life works out the dreams of God.

The purpose of our human life is indeed to work out the dreams of God in and through our embodied material existence.

Closing Remarks
Savitri sees and reckons all these truths about humanity as her witness Self.

There is no harm in the vital taking part in the joy of the rest of the being; it is the participation of the vital that makes it dynamic and communicates it to the external nature.
