Evolution is part of the process through which we arrive at the doors of liberation. The soul must reach at least a certain point of development before it can qualify for liberation. But it is only through Her Power working in creation that one can reach that point. When a soul turns to Her for liberation and She grants it then it means that usually this process will be quickened. Of course no one can bind Her to any formula and whether she will grant liberation or not will not depend upon our outer mind’s wishes but on the soul’s destiny which we do not know but She does. Her actions are determined by the truth of things and not by our demands. That truth of things is a vast and ever progressive unity and not a rigid formula. She will grant only as long as the thing asked for does not contradict the secret truth inherent within the soul and in creation.
As to Shri Ramana Maharishi and Buddha if one follows their path then their living presence is not needed. What is needed is to sincerely follow their teachings to arrive at liberation.
In any case liberation is not a thing that is easy and is certainly not a sort of wish fulfilment. It does not come just because we are too tired of life and wish to escape from creation. The desire for liberation, even when it is genuine, must come from a sattwic state even though it is still a form of subtle illusion. But tamasic and rajasic desire for liberation due to the disappointments and disillusionments from life is not strong enough to sustain the process of liberation. There is a meaning and purpose in Her seeming random game and none can escape it prematurely to rest in the Ineffable.
