At the Feet of The Mother

What is the meaning of the world ‘occult’ as used in Sri Aurobindo’s writings, is it divya, unfathomable?

Occult means hidden, that is to say, the entire range of the play of forces hidden from our outer senses. Behind the range of our senses, beyond even the grasp of our physical mind there exist worlds and domains and planes of consciousness with their own characteristic substance, energy, vibrational quality, forces and beings that influence us in unseen ways. Their importance is therefore obvious not only for a spiritual aspirant but also for leading life with the full knowledge of all that operates from behind.

These occult domains can be characterised into three broad categories with reference to our material existence and their impact upon us. There are the dark asuric domains with negative impacts, the mid-worlds with their dubious workings and, the higher worlds that help us in our evolutionary journey.
