At the Feet of The Mother

The Mother says that our life is a game – but what are the rules?

The Mother accepts the human experience that the game of play does appear as a cruel joke when we are on this side of the fence, that is to say, when we are in a state of Ignorance. We begin to see it as a Divine Play in the true sense (and not merely as a phrase or cliché) when we have stepped beyond the boundaries of the Ignorance. Then we understand the meaning and the purpose of the Play. Then we play consciously for the delight of the Play knowing its purpose and our role in it.

Creation begins in a state of freedom but as it descends through several layers of Time and Space, various intermediate causalities come into existence and along with that the rules of the game. We can put it this hierarchically. The material world has maximum rules and they are quite rigid. These rules are because it is a mechanical world of repetitive movements that take place habitually. But as we climb through the vital and mental towards the spiritual worlds the degree of freedom increases until we discover once again the complete freedom of the Spirit.

The rules of the game are therefore twofold to begin with. There are rules that pertain to each realm. Thus, the material world will have its own rules. And then there are rules if we try to cross to the other realms. The interesting part is that when we enter the other realms say the mental and the spiritual, we can to an extent start modifying the rules that govern the material life until we can arrive at the state of absolute Freedom that can modify the physical world to the extent of freeing it from all the rules that right now bind it. The Supramental is meant to do that. The only problem is that while it can and is doing so in individuals its larger action and the collective emancipation of at least a sizeable number of human beings is yet to be seen.

Social rules have no deep truth in them. They are man-made and their purpose is to keep the society in order. They differ from place to place and change as humanity evolves. Their importance is very relative.
