This may be so because of the long sentences used by Sri Aurobindo to give a completest possible rounded truth.
I would suggest reading a little everyday, a passage or two slowly, putting pauses with every comma and connecting it with what goes before and comes after it. You can also write the passage if you like.
Then let it slowly sink in.
Always keep connecting the sentences and the passages with each other to create a gist and a summary understanding at the end.
Slowly you will get accustomed to the writings and it will become easy.
It is akin to learning to swim.
Meanwhile read the Letters on Yoga to get into the main ideas in Sri Aurobindo’s thought.
Of course feel free to ask any specific questions that may arise in the course of reading on any of the passages.
