Sweet and infinite Mother, Mother Divine, Maa, Sri Aurobindo and Yourself have undertaken to uplift our blind and ignorant human race. Not only but uplift but transform despite the refusals and the resistances. These refusals and resistances to change may sometimes seem like the obstinate clinging of a child who does not know what is good for him. Sometimes they are like that of a sick child who is helplessly stricken to the ground with his will paralysed or even working against himself. But also sometimes, behind this refusal and resistance, there is an ill will, a deliberate almost half-conscious impulse to obstruct Thy Working, even a refusal of Thy Grace, a half-conscious hostility against the saviour hands of Grace. And yet Thou hast undertaken to transform us, in stages and phases, a formidable undertaking that none has even conceived so far.
Maa, it is because of You that man can hope. Left to himself, man would have destroyed the earth several times over. His heart is so full of doubt, disbelief and ingratitude. His values so completely inverted and his values so self-centered that he cares for nothing else except the satisfaction of his palate and petty desires. And yet Thou hast undertaken to transform this earthly life through a growing number of human beings consenting to change.
Maa, because of You and You alone that we can hope and dare and strive rightly. Because of You alone that we can climb to God and manifest something of That Beauty and Glory here, upon earth. Because of You the earth has a chance of fulfilling her inmost aspiration for delivering the divine child fully out of her womb of darkness and ignorance. Because of You and You alone life is worth living and loving. Because of You…..
Maa, our souls are already bound to Thee forever. May our nature too, thorny and fallen, be also fully redeemed by Thy Love.
