Mother Divine, Maa, when one is progressing fast one should be even more vigilant. It is easier to stumble during these moments of rapid progress than when one is leading one’s life at the same horizontal level. Of course, those who follow the path of surrender sincerely, those endowed with an unflinching faith undeterred by any outer circumstances feel Thy Hand of Grace protecting them through every stumble and fall. They bounce back quickly and find their feet steady on the path again. But those who rely only on personal effort can get badly hurt and sometimes it may take really long to be back on one’s feet again. This lack of surrender stems from a kind of egoism, the ego of the tapaswi, the ego that takes pride in doing sadhana and being a great sadhak, yogi etc., even more dangerously a refusal to acknowledge the Divine Grace. That is why humility is so essential, a real safety on the way.
Maa, grant us the true surrender endowed with an unshakable faith in Thy Grace, the vigilance that is able to see behind every appearance, the sincerity that never deceives oneself and above all, the humility that knows that without Thee we can know nothing, can do nothing, are nothing.
