Mother Divine, Maa, he who seeks to serve Thee must be attached to nothing and nobody. All attachment becomes a bondage locking up the energies given to him for the service into personal and ignorant movements that prolong the play of ego and desire. It is a state of inner detachment and not an outer excision from people and situations because one is not comfortable with them. It is not the detachment born out of aversion, – an easy thing, but a detachment born out of a growing understanding that the world as it is today is a movement of ignorance impelled by desire. The dropping off of ignorant attachments should be a natural process as the ripe fruit drops off from the tree. Forced detachment, on the other hand, only leads to the plucking of an unripe fruit. Therefore is equanimity the best practice until one has discovered the true basis of action and is able to live consciously in Thee. Yet even then one can never exercise enough caution since the ways of the forces of darkness are very deceptive and the worst is when they masquerade in the form of goodness and truth.
Maa, save us from these deceptions, these masks that mislead us, these crooked fashioners of thought and life. Maa, may we be free of all egoism in love and attachments born of ignorance and desires. Make us straight and stainless and pure.
