But first we must be clear as to what really is knowledge. Especially what is this new knowledge, the truth that Sri Aurobindo brings. Until now, the quest of man has led him in two different, seemingly opposite direction. The first began with the question what is this world in which we find ourselves. Science has largely developed around this question. It has probed deeper and deeper with its lens and measuring rod. It has discovered the gross as well as subtle laws that govern the material existence. This too is knowledge, the worldly knowledge that tries to answer the question as to what is this world. It is generally considered the province of the Scientist, the material and the occult scientist.
