At the Feet of The Mother

Is there really such thing as ‘nazar’ (evil eye), and can one be immune to it?

The notion of the evil eye as also of divine eyes is there in every culture and stems from the early age of mankind when mankind was far more sensitive to occult forces. With the setting in of the rational age much of this knowledge has been lost due to the discontinuity of the civilisation. India has however preserved a kind of continuity of culture and traditional wisdom hence this knowledge as many other forms of occult knowledge is still there. It could be jealousy, anger, ill-will or anything else transmitted through the eyes in what is now being recognised as extramission.

But then just as there is an evil eye that can transmit adverse forces so too there are calm divine eyes that can heal. Generally, it is done by a priest in a temple who invokes the benevolent deity to remove the evil influence. But it is difficult to find such genuine priests and living presences. Use of charged amulets and mantras also helps if the victim is receptive and can support a higher divine action.
