At the Feet of The Mother

How do we deal with different types of humanity?

The spiritual knowledge we receive about these things is not meant to be used for judging and labelling people. Its purpose is first to awaken us to the fundamental division that exists between two different types of humanity so that we know how to chose our life and its course. Man can evolve along these two lines, – one is the Asuric growth which is marked by an expansion of desires and the empire of the ego. The Asura lives in the sense that the bodily-vital-mental life is the only self and hence he labours, and labours hard to gratify their needs. He may be religious but the cult he follows is selfishness. The Deva type, on the other hand labours for the good of all creatures. He knows instinctively or by faith that there is something deeper and greater than what we call as ourselves even if he has not yet found it. He knows that the ego and desires have to be trained and disciplined and life lived according to the certain subtler laws of creation set into motion by the Divine Wisdom. Naturally it is easier to gravitate towards the Asura type whereas to be a deva type needs effort which is why most people shun it even when they know it. Yet by a steady practice of self-discipline, practice of inner renunciation (tyaga) and an awakening to the spiritual law of living, above all by opening to the Divine Grace by meditation, study of spiritual books, moderation we are slowly converted to the deva type opening the doors to further evolution. This knowledge is meant to help us chose our own life. as to others this knowledge is helpful only so that we can stay at a safe distance since close friends and companions have an influence and effect upon our life. In simple words it means we should carefully choose the company we keep.
