Unlike previous stages of evolution, this leap from Man to Superman requires conscious and voluntary effort of man. The effort to concentrate the evolution of a few lifetimes in a single or few lifetimes is what the Integral Yoga is essentially about.
The Sri Aurobindo Ashram is a place dedicated to this next upcoming or ongoing spiritual evolution, a laboratory of evolution if you like. Its aim is not an escape from life into an other-worldly salvation but the transformation of earthly life; its method is not renunciation as ordinarily understood but the effort to manifest a higher and higher spiritual perfection.
