There are three stages of conscious union with the Divine.
The first is becoming aware that the Divine exists. This happens when an intuition or faith awakens with the awakening of the soul within us.
Next our outer come in contact through one of the senses, most often through the eyes or ears or both. We behold the Master who is destined to lead us. Through the Master’s outer body and form it is the Divine who comes within the range of our senses. We may see a photograph or meet Him in person, we may hear His voice or read His writings. We start thinking and feeling for Him. Thus we draw closer to His being.
Last is when we prostrate at His Feet in a gesture of self-giving and the Master lifts us up and embraces us inwardly so to say. His embrace brings peace and joy and certitude and the illumination that dispels all illusions.
It is this embrace that eventually leads to a growing union since once we have tasted this delight surpassing everything we can even conceive of we are bound to be drawn and experience the contact and the embrace again and again until the walls of ego dissolve and we melt into Him in an Inexpressible ecstasy of Union.
