At the Feet of The Mother

Truth, Freedom, Love and Peace, p. 127

Opening Remarks
All the high qualities towards which man aspires dwelt there harmoniously in that world immune from sorrow and error and grief.

A flood of universal love and peace
There reigned a breath of high immune content,
A fortunate gait of days in tranquil air,
A flood of universal love and peace.

This world exists high on the peaks of creation where Peace and tranquility are the very breath of life and a universal love is the way to live.

Tireless sweetness
A sovereignty of tireless sweetness lived
Like a song of pleasure on the lips of Time.

Surely these lines would rank among the very finest in any language and merely to contemplate on them fills the heart with joy sublime. The expressions tireless sweetness, song of pleasure on the lips of Time give us a hint of the honey-wine of immortality that flowed in that realm and even Time was as if intoxicated with Wonder and Delight.

Unfettered act
A large spontaneous order freed the will,
A sun-frank winging of the soul to bliss,
The breadth and greatness of the unfettered act
And the swift fire-heart’s golden liberty.

Unlike here upon earth where thought and deliberation must precede choices and the choices translate into action, there, in that world where one lived consciously in Truth and Light and Wideness that is found upon the heights, each action was spontaneously beautiful and true and blissful and free. That is to say that there was no chance of error and ignorance in that world.

All was sincerity and natural force
There was no falsehood of soul-severance,
There came no crookedness of thought or word
To rob creation of its native truth;
All was sincerity and natural force.

Falsehood that is born of division and crookedness that is born of ignorance had no place there as all lived in the consciousness of Unity and Oneness. Impelled by Truth and the natural law of things, the life there was sincere and transparent in every way.

True Freedom
There freedom was sole rule and highest law.

Therefore, in these worlds, Freedom was the law of life; it was not chained in the limiting bonds of ignorance.

Closing Remarks
Thus Sri Aurobindo leads us into the very highest realms of Existence where Truth is one with Love, where Freedom and Sweetness are the way of life, where Unity and Bliss were the very breath and atmosphere of all beings there.

There is no harm in the vital taking part in the joy of the rest of the being; it is the participation of the vital that makes it dynamic and communicates it to the external nature.
