At the Feet of The Mother

Perseus the Deliverer (TH 154)

A brief story on Sri Aurobindo’s play by Alok Pandey in Hindi.

Perseus the Deliverer is one of the longest play of Sri Aurobindo, the only play published in Sri Aurobindo’s lifetime. This is very symbolic and the Mother has given very interesting comments on this play. In Greek mythology there are three sons of God who rule over the worlds. Zeus the lord of sky, Poseidon-the lord of Sea and Hades, the lord of death. This talk takes up the play and deals with its evolutionary aspects and subtle symbols. The worship of Athena in place of Poseidon symbolizes the dawn of a new era, a worship of beauty, strength, courage, peace and love in place of brute force and crude thoughts.
