Canto Ten “The Kingdoms and Godheads of the Little Mind”, Opening Remarks

Opening Remarks for the Canto 

The heavens of the vital worlds are the highest states that religions seem to have encountered. They rest there assuring their followers a seat in this realm after Death. But yoga climbs further. Climbing beyond the vital heavens there are realms of Mind. But as with every ascension, the seeker must first come down from the peaks attained in one domain and start afresh towards a new climb. Therefore we see Aswapati now starting a new and fresh climb in the mind realms starting with the little Mind.

The Mind worlds form a series of domains that climb from material existence right up to the Overmind peaks that look towards the Supramental Truth-Light. The little Mind is the first of this series. It is the mind with its power of division seen in the extreme. It fixes the descending lines of consciousness into rigid forms. It also marks the first step in the return journey as it emerges out of living matter into thinking matter and bringing into play the possibilities of the mind. It is a triple stair however as we shall see revealed here.
